Dr. Hamersley is a bilingual, board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist with subspecialty training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  She attended medical school at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida.  Dr. Hamersley completed her residency at Jackson Memorial Medical Center and her Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Training at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.  She is currently licensed in to practice in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
 


Dr. Hamersley has special interests in the treatment of preeclampsia, placenta accreta spectrum (PAS), recurrent and reproductive loss, and thrombophilia (blood-clotting disorders) in pregnancy and she has been recognized internationally in these fields.  She is frequently invited as a guest lecturer and is currently serving on both national and international committees which develop protocols for the treatment and prevention of these conditions in pregnancy.
 


Dr. Hamersley's work has been covered on television news and documentaries, radio, newspapers, and magazines, including The Learning Channel, The Discovery Channel, The Today Show, and NBC Washington to name a few.
 


Dr. Hamersley dedicates herself to her practice, her patients, her medical mission work, and her family.  In her free time, she enjoys travel, playing tennis and helping women to be their best selves.  She takes a holistic approach when treating her patients that encompasses clinical expertise with an additional focus on body and mind wellness.  She has practiced medicine in the DC Metro area for nearly 3 decades and she looks forward to providing high quality and personalized care for you during your pregnancy.

Kimberly Hickey, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Kimberly Hickey is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist with subspecialty training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina, where she earned a B.S. with Honors in Biology, and attended medical school at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD.  Dr. Hickey completed her residency at Tripler Army Medical Center and her Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship training at Georgetown University.  Dr. Hickey is currently licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
 


She joined Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates of Maryland following her 25 years of service in the U.S. Army Medical Corp.  In addition to receiving the rank of Colonel she most recently served as the Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at the National Capital Consortium in Bethesda, Maryland.
 


She has authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, and her research interests include growth restriction, placental pathology, and medication exposure.
 


Dr. Hickey's clinical interests include prenatal care, perinatal consultations, ultrasound, amniocentesis, diabetes, and prenatal diagnostic testing. She has received numerous awards during her training both in recognition of her compassion in medical care as well as her excellence in teaching.
 


During her free time, she enjoys family time at the Bay, cooking with her husband and watching her girls play lacrosse.

Frank Swann is a licensed genetic counselor specializing in preconception assessment of genetic risk and coordination of prenatal genetic testing services. He is a resource for patients at all stages of pregnancy, from initial planning stages and fertility approaches to coordination of postnatal care for at-risk infants.

Frank joined the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates of Maryland team in 2022. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and obtained master’s degrees in both Genetic Counseling and Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. In addition to his genetics expertise, he has also earned a certificate in Health Equity from the University of Pittsburgh and works to ensure that patients of all cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds have equal and affordable access to genetic testing.

Frank’s role in this process is to assist patients with interpretation of medical history and assessment for risk of genetic disease, to educate patients with up-to-date information that provides tools for understanding and family advocacy, and to promote informed decision-making to help each patient’s unique pregnancy management decision.

In his free time, Frank enjoys cooking with family and friends, relaxing with a good book, and concocting respectful ways to pet other people’s dogs. He’s also always on the lookout for compassionate organizations to share his time with, and has previously volunteered for the American Cancer Society and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
